New Themes

Have a look at our new theme options. I find Latte really easy on the eyes. I insisted on Hexagon being included but now I'm not so sure.

And in practice, I don't love Black, either. But we absolutely need at least a good light and dark theme.

And for the record, I also see no difference between Latte and Latte Red. We can release the Red version, in my opinion.

We just ones that are compatible with 3.2.2. The Black and Latte themes were chosen in part because they are quite popular and seem to be regularly updated. I don't necessarily want to vote on it (to the broader forum) so we don't end up with smaller contingencies of themes we'd have to keep up to date. Two is reasonable (plus the default of ProSilver ugh). Maybe three (I could see a white, offwhite, and dark theme too)

I vote for Latte being default. Easy on the eyes, not a ton of blues, pretty, and updated.

It's also great on phones. It doesn't take up the full width of my work monitor too which probably is for the better actually. Too much information is a thing.

I figured out the difference between red and the default theme: it's the color of hyperlinks. Try both out by going to the main page and seeing what the colors are. I actually kind of like red because it's more intuitive for where links are located.

Actually now that I type that, maybe we should just leave both. Red is inherited from Latte so people can make that choice, but maybe make red the default. Wouldn't take any additional work to troubleshoot sinc eit seems to only make that minor change at the CSS stylesheet level,

Then let's just keep Latte Red. I'm good with that. Two Lattes would be pretty silly - imagine the endless questions from new users.

Funnily enough, I like it. Let's keep the number of available themes to 4 total, including ProSilver. So three "aftermarket" ones.

I'm testing out latte on my phone right now and it's magnificent. It feels like a native app. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I didn't explicitly go here onmy browser.

The high contrast ones gave me a headache.

I decided I like the old-fashioned ProSilver over Latte. I think Matt installed one other theme I will have to check out.

I like "flat style" but I agree we don't need to have all the variants. Maybe choose one color and leave it at that. But not blue and not a tan. Those are in prosilver and latte respectively.

If maintaining each theme is independent, maybe you can pawn off some of the duties on us Mods.

So as it turns out, when we clone the site, it attempts to use the assets as though they are hard coded. Eg. if I make trombonechat.com/test, it still uses the themes installed in trombonechat.com. So I'll have to figure out a way to tset themes without doing it on the main site. In the meantime for something this mundane it should be okay. Although I've swapped them out and they don't seem to have changed this time. I suppose that is better than having no logo but that doesn't make any sense... maybe it has to refresh?

This set is roughly equivalent to the original banners in terms of size. Try them instead and see what happens.

It took a few minutes before mine realized it was the new image. The old ones technically don't even exist on the server save for the original zip file so it isn't coming from the site.

It might be some kind of router caching. Once I navigated there it solved the issue for all of my devices. In either case... let's let that hang or awhile and ask tomorrow if people notice the it. I suspect that in a few hours everyone will have the new image.

Oh - that must be it. I asked us to dump Latte because Latte Red has better hyperlink colors. Let's do that.

Latte Red inherits from Latte, in other words the assets are the same so that shouldn't be the issue. In retrospect, I suggest we just keep both. There is no additional overhead to keeping them and I've actually been using the regular latte and do appreciate the earthtone hyperlinks!

But I found the trombone logo on Latte but not on Latte Red. Latte Red didn't inherit your header.
