Anyone own or have experience with York trombones, made in Grand Rapids, Michigan, circa mid 1930s? Serial number, 109xxx. There is a silver York for sale locally, in decent condition, that I’m curious about. The slide brace is ‘z’ shaped. The bell brace is curved, similar to King 2Bs, 3Bs, etc.. What’s the price range/value? Thanks for any info you can offer.

Unlike York tubas, which are highly prized, the trombones don't seem to be that desirable. Some consider them to be student grade, even if originally sold as "professional". I tried one which had a double brace under the cork barrel and it was extremely uncomfortable to hold. Add to that the slide being in awful condition and you can understand why I passed on it.

What it's worth really depends on condition. If it's really minty, it might fetch $400. Average condition probably half that. Well-worn, probably less than $100.
