Mouthpiece rim modification

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with getting mouthpiece rims modified.

Specifically, I've found that narrow tenor rims work better for me and I'm wondering if anyone has experience getting "normal" wide rimmed mouthpieces shaved down from the outside to have a more narrow width (keeping the inner edge of the rim and cutting away from the outer edge). This seems like a relatively easy modification, but I'm wondering if anyone who has had this done can share their experience.

Yes, I already have some of Doug's stuff, and have a mouthpiece I like threaded for his rims.

Thanks!

I had a Rath 1.5 wide rim brought to the profile of a D.E. regular rim. I sent the DE rim along to John Stork and had him take the Rath down from the out diameter, so yes it can be done.

I was on Stork's site the other day and saw that they offer rim alterations as an option for their mouthpiece alteration services. They have done some nice work for me in the past including copying a rim and threading some cups to fit the copy, and very good plating (including gold plating) at a reasonable price.

I just send stuff to Bob Reeves. If you already have the rim you want, they can get the parts threaded and matched so it works.
