The one on reverb is through a Sam Ash. it's better to contact the particular Sam Ash that has it directly to see how much they are willing to negotiate off the price. You can pretty much guarantee a minimum 10% discount. They are more willing to cut a deal when working directly vs through Reverb. Here's the listing.

That is a terrible price for a horn in that condition imo.

Sam Ash’s rule of thumb is to never pay more than 50% of what their asking price will be on Reverb.

Eric, I’d be interested to know your expert repair approach to this 290 listed above. It’s been awhile, but I used to dig these horns in a big band setting.

There's a very good condition Benge 290 on Kijiji in Calgary. Kijiji is sort of like Craigslist, and I think is Canada based. If they'll ship to the US, the price might also be good with the current exchange.
