Hello everyone!

Do you know the source of this quote from J.J.?

"To sit in the audience and witness a Carl Fontana performance is a mind-blowing experience."

It appears in Tom Everett's article "Master of Bebop" (ITA Journal vol 21 nÂș1 page 17)

I don't know either but I'd bet he interviewed JJ.

I know that JJ played at the Nashville ITW in 1988. I'm not sure but I think that was the only time he was there

Yeah, there is a fragment of ten minutes of an interview from 1972, but it's not complete...

Wow - that sounds amazing. A trombone battle between Carl and JJ? And Jimmy Knepper too? Hopefully it sees the light of day someday. I'd love to hear that.
