Schmelzer Tornister "Tiny" Tuba
All slides and rotors move easily
Finish is basically new with fingerprints and smudges from handling
Has a wrinkle on the inside of the bell throat
Plays very well! Ive had multiple Tubist play it and they are surprised at how well it plays.
Comes in a brown and yellow backpack case. Would prefer not to ship this if possible
Purchased this to practice Tuba, priorities have since shifted and I would hold on to it if I could afford to
Would prefer $2800 but would be willing to entertain a trade for a pair of Edwards compatible bass trombone valves.

Originally purchased from the BrassArk, here is what the original ad said: "Probably the best playing pocket tuba in the world. Here is a BBb pocket tuba from Manfred Schmelzer. That's right... this is a FULL SIZE BBb tuba wrapped up in a compact package. This is by far the best design for a small "tornister tuba" I've seen so far and that is because of its full length leadpipe and impressive large bore bends.
This is the ultimate pit tuba. If you are a doubler and need a great playing BBb that you can take to work for your show work, this is the one. Or if you're looking for a really good playing tuba that you can take on the road with minimal space, this is it.
It was a demo model from the recent ITF (International Trombone Festival) in Redlands, and is new but did have a small mishap with the airlines during transit to the show and there is a small ding in the bell flare."

I've played this very Tuba and it is as Brass Ark described it - a very easy blowing full sounding Tuba. I can recommend it... Doug

That looks a lot like a Chinese ZO tuba. Is Schmelzer reselling ZOs?

I don't know of anyone making a travel/tornister tuba nowadays except the Chinese and MW. The MW is, I think, a bit larger than this one and is about $10,000.

That would be my guess, although I don't think they offer silver plate with gold accents. That might be something Schmelzer did to it.
