Yamaha YBL-613h Question

Hello.
Do YBL 321/322/421 handslides fit a YBL 613 bell section as is or will there be some modifications?
How about a Bach 50 handslide?

Yamaha is a bit weird with their connectors... I don't think a 50 would fit, but I think the 830 is broadly compatible, so maybe the 613H is too.

A friend and very good bass trombone player tried someone's YBL 613H with a Bach N/S handslide and said it played wonderfully.

Bach slides will fit and work on the 613H, as will an Edwards bass slide, which is actually a closer match dimensionally to the original Yamaha slide, being shorter than the Bach slide.

When I ordered some replacement parts from Yamaha, the taper of the slide receiver was different and the nut was a completely different size and threading. I think Yamaha redesigns components for their instruments every now and then, and sometimes assigns the old part number to it, even if it has different dimensions!

Riding on the coattails of this thread: I picked up a very nice YBL-322 bell section to use as a single-valve option with my excellent YBL-612RII slide. The tenon mating seams spot-on and it fits and plays very nicely, but the threads on the nut must be different because the 322 nut will not start on the 612 slide threads. Parts are not available from Yamaha, but I can still get this project across the finish line if someone knows what the thread/pitch is on a 612 or what else out there is the same as a 612 so I can try to source parts from another brand or model.
Shout out to DJ Kennedy for the great bell section, he and his vast collection came through for me with a very playable piece, just need to sort out this one detail. Thanks DJ!

Of the horns I've had, the 613H, 622G, and 421G will all fit the Bach and Edwards slides. I had a 321 that didn't. don't know about the 322. I have a 421G bell that plays wonderfully with an Edwards light weight nickel slide. although there's no E pull, it's a really nice single trigger bass.

My 612Rii accepts my Bach 42 slide and screws on securely, vice-versa with the 42 bell and 612Rii slide. Most probably a Bach 42/50 nut (or compatible, maybe Edwards or Courtois) would have the correct thread for what you need. It could be worth checking your 612Rii bell with a 42/50 slide if you can borrow one, should be easy enough to find and would confirm the thread.
The 42 slide is slightly longer than the 612Rii. I wonder whether your 322 would also have been designed for a longer slide than the 612Rii? Quite possibly so. It might not be ideal to have a single valved bass with shorter than designed slide if I’m right about the length.

The 613h was originally developed with Steve Norrell and my guess is he wanted to be able to use his 50 slide in the bell section as an option. I studied with him and I remember a couple of occasions when he would use his 50 slide on his 613h bell.
