Space Games!

All my friends and i play space games, normally warframe or star wars battlefront 2. When i play alone i play elite dangerous

Just wondering if there’s a correlation between space games and trombone.

I haven't really played a computer game since Frogger.

I did make a space game when I was learning C++. It was called "Mars Needs Donuts".

Instead of shooting the aliens you give them donuts to go away.

I like your game, Rob. The last "shootem up" games I played were Duke Nukem and Commander Keen (back in the DOS days). I like different games. Lately I've been playing Hidden City (a hidden object game).

Maybe it's a generational thing. I don't feel a need to kill things any more.

Not playing any space games at the moment, all about The Ascent.

One of my favorite things to fire up is Space Engine, though, which is basically a universe simulator.

There are "space" games, and then there are SPACE games. Unfortunately, the games you listed, while great and fun, are not about SPACE :twisted:. This is the best SPACE game of all time:

What about Pharaoh and Shogun Total War 1?

Man, I've been playing computer games since I was genetic info inside my Dad. But once I was born, I remember SPACE QUEST! We played Wing Commander too, and X-Wing. Dune 2 was good too. Transport Tycoon had SPACE maps too.

Who could forget Links 386? "He hit the tree, Jim"

I think that's why I love Kerbal Space Program. Back in the 80s and 90s, every game was like brand new territory. When I played Dune 2, no one had ever heard of a real time strategy game before. When we played Catacomb 3-D, no one had heard of an FPS game. KSP harkens back to those days -- never played a game like that in my life until it came out.

They remade pharaoh on Steam with better graphics. They don't make games like that anymore

Yeah, I remember duke nukem/commander keen. The wing commander and strike commander series…good times! Now I’ve been going pretty heavy on MechWarrior (Battletech has always been interesting to me), Skyrim and Oblivion…

I have played in the last year or so: Galactic Civilizations 3, Space Haven, Faster Than Light, Starbound, and Universe Sandbox.

There are some games that have a vague space them but thematically lean more to fantasy like Warhammer 40000: Inquisitor, Rimworld, or Age of Wonders: Planetfall.

I have a soft spot in my memory for Starflight.

Also not sure about a direct correlation between space games and trombone players. Though it does seem like most of us have some sort of space game in some way or another in our libraries.

my steam library (minus other games I haven't put any hours into but there's not that much more. There's also probably a couple thousand hours of minecraft and many thousands of hours of Halo games since 01 and an estimated 31k hrs of runescape between 01 and 17 before i started playing it on steam.

That being said, i do collect some Warhammer 40k and associated minis and have an interest in some star wars and star trek.

I play Elite: Dangerous and Galactic Civilizations II on occasion. I've also had brief No Man's Sky and Star Trek Online kicks. I have Stellaris, Endless Space 2, Galactic Civilizations III, and Sins of a Solar Empire in my library but have barely touched them. Finally, one of my favorite and most-played games of all times is Battlezone from 1998, which is set all around the Solar System.

I play all sorts of games, but most aren't space-related. My gaming is usually divided between racing games, FPS, city builders, and Pokémon. These days it's mostly Arma Reforger, CoD MWIII, Gran Turismo 4, Mini Motorways, Pokémon Violet, PokeMMO, and Pokémon GO.

I'm itching to get back into tabletop, but all my friends who play D&D are in the middle of multi-year campaigns so I'm out of luck for awhile.

haha thanks! cookie clicker and a few other games are idle games i just leave open almost 24/7 and check in on every few hours XD

haha that's just since like 2017 haha. ive been playing rs since 01 LOL. i also work from home so i let runescape run in the background afk grinding skills so i dont have to actively do it XD i can passively gain xp LOL. between runescape and runing some lip slurs every so often, this is how i get through my workday LOL. unfortunately i do not have a count of hours spent lip sluring or playing random stuff in very short stints as a way to take breaks from work lol

We did my one and only D&D campaign when I was at Ft. Carson. One guy knew how to play and the rest of us were couples just trying to have fun and play casually. We didn't get very far but had a lot of fun building the story up. One guy kept rolling to seduce the door, finally rolled a 20, got splinters, and then the door happened to open to a creature that ate his mind. He spent the next few get togethers with his character only being able to randomly walk around and say "Bowling Ball", even during battles.

The only space games I played, since quite a long time ago now, are Star Wars: Jedi Outcast and StarCraft, if you count thise as space games.

I now mostly play action-RPG game like Monster Hunter.

Yep! Very helpful because it's near-impossible to get the original to work right on Windows 10 and 11. I've been playing it since 1998, it's really one of a kind.

So this is not a "game", but I find entertaining, educational and fun. It is Spacex' simulator for docking at the space station. It's actually quite hard to manage the 3 dimensions, as well as the drift and yaw of your own ship.

The Steam Deck is the best video game purchase I’ve ever made! I love that thing. I originally bought the LCD and later upgraded to the OLED. It’ll run just about anything you throw at it. The track pads are underrated and are a game changer!

First off the controls on the deck are full sized sticks and triggers! It’s a big system but it’s not oversized like the Lenovo Legion.

One of the cool things is there is significant gyro support on the deck. In Portal the default controls include gyro only when you’re touching the sticks which is pretty cool. When I play something like Fallout 4 or Borderlands I set the controls so gyro is on the when pressing the left trigger.

Some people even use the track pads for shooters. They’re placed in a natural enough spot that it works surprisingly good for first person games but I personally just use the sticks.

I definitely don’t play competitive shooters on the deck but it works plenty fine for first person games like Fallout or Skyrim.

The amount of freedom Steam has built in for mapping controls is pretty great.

In my memory that was running in BASIC and was one of the games my father gave to me as a kid along with some brief info on how to look at the BASIC code.
