I have a fantastic TR180 double-valve bass trombone for sale. This was Joe Stanko's horn and he had it "perfected" before I bought it. I have just played and enjoyed it immensely. As usual, I have a mountain of horns and have settled on a couple other basses. What Joe Stanko had done: James Baker in Alabama adjusted the slide (it is perfect); Benn Hansson in Seattle made a D-slide and custom valve levers (beautiful, adjustable); and Robb Stewart in LA cut the bell from 10" to 9.5" and added a bell wire and soldered it. All of the above is beautiful work by the best techs in the country. I don't think you could possibly find a nicer TR180. Comes in a brand new Eastman. $2300 shipped. You pay any fees. Thanks.

Drool. Just out of curiosity, what did you keep over this? I mean aside from your cat, of course.

I am keeping a Yamaha 612 and my old Bach 50B (1966). They are all pretty much perfect. A tough choice. Economics is part of it.

Sir, is this more of a jazz horn, or is it an all around deal? I'm curious about the cut down of the bell. The work is obviously beautiful, but what did it change on the sound? I have a friend that is interested.

Others can chime in... but I think it is a great all-around horn.

I didn't have the bell cut, so I can't make a before-after comparison. But the idea was to focus the sound more and allow for cleaner, more pointed attacks.

What's your impression of it versus your Bach? A little brighter, a little warmer?

Do you know what it weighs? I usually think of Holtons as a bit lighter.

Yes, I agree that the Holtons feel a bit lighter than Bachs and many other basses. I think the ergonomics are excellent on this horn.

Hi,

Is this horn still available?

If so, would you ship to UK?
