It's not pre-WWII, but I think this is the one you're talking about. I saw it get posted today and it made my ears perk up.

Unfortunately I'm not "on" Facebook, so I can't view the one that's listed.

...and didn't buy it themselves... you should add.
Every couple of years I get the 32h itch. I remember the sound and the feel of playing it, just that warm sound that I really love. But then I remember why I've sold the other 2 or 3 that I've owned previously - that narrow slide. No matter how many times I've tried it, I still think "oh, I can just put a 79/78h slide on it and it'll be great", but for some reason, that combination is far from great.
I saw this one, and saw that it didn't appear to have any real damage, and I'm a sucker for that unlacquered vibe anyway, and I have to admit, I almost just bought it myself. These come around every now and then, and are usually reasonably priced. And they are odd enough that they usually haven't done duty as a student horn, so even the older ones are generally not all beat to hell.
Anyway, John, I hope you enjoy it. And who knows, I may still get a chance at it after all. I've bought a few from you. It sounds like we probably have similar weaknesses for old Conns.

I had a few myself and I let them go for the same reason. "That Damn Narrow Slide". I usually stuck my middle and 4th finger in between the tubes and let my Index finger ride on top. Anyway I contacted Rath about a 508/525 for my R3 that"s $1500+ and shipping from "Across the Pond" . M&W at $3000 for a new horn with the 508/525 custom slide. I thought I would give this a try first. I had a Shires once but I seem prefer the Vintage small bores.
