Picked this up on Facebook Marketplace last week. Horn was in great shape but suffered from a lot of lacquer loss and staining. Last night I stripped it and gave it a brushed finish. Leaving it raw for the time being.

Used items I had in hand.

Stripped remaining lacquer with nail polish remover and then bathed with warm water and Dawn followed by thorough rinse.

Applied Brasso and rubbed with green scratch pad followed by another bath and rinse. Last step was applying a thin coat of car wax..

I have a 1946 Olds Special that has a good slide and I like it a lot. I bought it on eBay for $100 and paid to have some dents removed. I stripped the lacquer myself and keep it polished with Flitz cream. The good news...it doesn't tarnish that much.
