This is a Shires independent axial flow valve section that was made for me in 2014, I am the original owner. It has custom adjustable valve lever hardware which gives this valve section quicker action and a much lighter throw than any standard Shires axial flow valve I've played. The valve lever hardware was made by Mike Olsen of Westside Machine and Instrument Innovations and was installed by well-known trombone technician Benn Hansson. It has a fully adjustable ball bearing F lever kit which allows you to tailor stroke length through geometric changes and it also has a custom Gb saddle and ball bearing ends. These improvements make the formerly heavy (in my opinion) action of the standard Shires axial flow valves lighter and quicker and is a noticeable improvement over factory. I used this valve section for my first three seasons in the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and also used this for some cycles subbing in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra including on a few recordings. There is some lacquer wear but functionally this valve section operates fantastically. I purchased the valve section from Shires in 2014 for $2,595 and spent $490 in parts and labor adding the improved levers for a total investment of $3,085. These valves have a great few years of professional use and care and offer quicker axial flow valve action than available from Shires, they are any Axial Flow/Thayer bass trombonists' dream.

I'm in North Carolina, will ship these anywhere in the US, shipping included. Please message if you have a trade or want to purchase outright. **UPDATE** BIG PRICE REDUCTION now on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115006635118 SOLD

I’m realizing there are almost certainly very few Shires single valve bass valve sections out there so I’m dropping the trade side and will try to sell this outright now and find a single valve section later. New price $2300 with shipping included and it’ll be sonic cleaned before shipping. Open to offers as well. Cheers!

This valve section is ending soon on eBay, looks like it'll be the deal of the decade: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115006635118. There is a 3-6 month wait for Shires valve sections these days and of course they're not what they used to be, this is an original Shires valve section from the Steve Shires Boston factory days.

This valve section is for sale again! The winning bidder from last week's eBay auction never paid and never responded to messages, complete radio silence, so here it is available one final time: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115020013484 SOLD
