So I bought this trombone. . .
But it’s not an 88H but an 88HLT.
Nothing mentioned in this listing, emails or in the pictures (which seem to avoid the engraving!)
Is it ok to advertise an 88HLT as an 88H and then ignore the buyer when they complain you have sold them a dofeeent trombone to what’s advertised?!!!

For anyone who might not know, what's the difference between an 88H and 88HLT? Not for me 'cause I totally know, but like, for someone who might not know.
the 88HT has a thinner bell.
Absolutely. I know what one is, I don’t really like them, and I would never have bought one.
Unfortunately Eric plum won’t even reply to my messages.
Is there somewhere on this site that we can give feedback on Sellars because this guy has falsely advertise the trombone and now won’t make contact to try and fix it

Perhaps Eric did not know the difference, and knew only that he had a Conn 88H?
Is there a visible difference between an 88H and an 88HT that most of us would recognize? :idk:

Should be part of the engraving on the bell. The only references I can find to "HLT" are from Japanese sites. I had only heard of 88h and 88ht, never hlt.

There was indeed an 88HLT, and it is engraved on the bell.

I had an 88H LT OW for several years, purchased in the US in 2000.
(Lightweight bell i.e. thin wall, open wrap)
See the attached engraving.
In fairness, the LT text is pretty small and could be overlooked if you weren’t looking for it. On the other hand, I’d have thought most sellers would look to highlight the LT bell as a feature, some buyers may prefer it. I don’t think there would be much to be gained by deliberately ignoring it but who knows?

I think getting the 2547 slide was the better part of the deal considering how hard it is to get those slides. Prehaps you can trade the bell section for a standard weight one?
Either case it sucks you're getting the cold shoulder. I've brought the question of a transaction rating system up before to no avail.

I'm not completely convinced that Mr. Plum was being dishonest or hiding anything.
In March 2020 he listed probably the same trombone, and was then explicit about it being an 88HLT.

Apparently it didn't sell then, and he re-listed it 17 months later with a slightly different description, and labeled it as an 88Hw (whatever that is). Was that purposely deceptive? :idk:
How long have you waited for his reply to your complaint? He may not be one of those who checks his messages frequently. I'd like to hear his side of the story. :|
conn88Hagmann, I might be willing to take this interesting (to me) trombone off your hands - for the right price. I presume that, other than the lightweight bell, it's a fine instrument? I love Conns and have long been interested in a 0.525"/0.547" slide for my own (1972) 88H. 8-)

It doesn’t have the small LT, it’s the same
Size as the H.
Il take when I’m home.
He has read the initial message that I sent on Tuesday saying I was unhappy. He has then ignored all messages and emails.
If he originally listed it as a LT and then omitted that, then he deliberately changed the description to be dishonest. I’m in no doubt. And there is no way he doesn’t k or what a LT is. If you went to the trouble of finding this slide, would you not bother to read about the bells or even try them.
Very disappointed.

I will have a think.
Thank you for the offer.
But The right price would have to be what it cost with postage. . . . . Which no doubt I also paid over the odds for.
The postage cost $139 he charged me $191!

I can understand your disappointment, you thought you were getting something else. I know you've been clear in the descriptions and photos of a couple of your horns I think you we've been in contact about in the past which is the way it should be.
It does seem a bit strange if was previously listed as an LT and not this time and I see what you mean that someone who picked a dual bore slide would probably also be aware of the bell options.
I still don't see why someone would deliberately fail to declare the LT. I know some people don't love them but many also do and would actively seek them out.
Something doesn't fit together right and it's a shame you've ended up with an instrument you didn't want, whatever the reason it happened. Hopefully you can clarify it with the seller and find a good solution.

Im here. Been off line about a week. Yes, the bell is an 88HLT - an honest miss on my part. Zero intent to mislead. My original add had it and I just didn't put the two letters. As for the shipping: - UPS gave me a quote then suddenly said they won't ship. I drove to UPS did ship. .... send it back.

Thanks for owning up to mistakes. We all lose if trading credibility here becomes diminished. I do a fair bit of buying and selling here, and you have to be able to trust people.

Good on the seller for owning this and offering a solution.
Deliberately disguising it as something else of approximately equal value just wouldn’t have made sense.

Will you pay for the return shipping Eric? As it’s your mistake.
Many thanks.

Has this been resolved? Seems there is a lack of communication between Watasnake and Conn88HHagmann. Watasnake has agreed to pay the shipping back and told me he regrets having mislabeled the instrument.

Yes. Resolved. He didn’t want to send it back and let me pay for the postage plus cost of the horn. He asked I pay for the the cost that it would take to send it back to me. Did it within a minute. I would say it resolved. Yes, I missed LT.

Hmm ...
So 88HHagmann still has the 88HLT (which he apparently hates) and got paid for return postage from UK to USA - but refuses to actually ship the trombone back.
Look for an 88HLT for sale soon? Or perhaps he'll find he really does like the trombone after all? :idk:

Resolved.
I decided that shipping back was a huge waste of money, so negotiated that as a form of compensation for the “mistake” I would take a refund of my original postage as I would never have bought the instrument (so why would I have paid to post it). This was agreed upfront, not after I received the return postage money as seems to be insinuated here. . . <EMOJI seq="1f937-1f3fb-2642" tseq="1f937-1f3fb-200d-2642-fe0f">🤷🏻♂️</EMOJI>
As you can imagine, I didn’t get on with the LT, But managed to find someone local who fancied a swap for a standard bell.
So yes, resolved. And no harm done, but No not a great experience. . . . . . . But these things happen. Glad the seller admitted his mistake, and made it right by refunding the postage.
