For sale is a Thomann TEB480 alto. Yellow brass bell, nickel slide, .480 bore, 7” bell. Comes with case and unmarked 12C. **Tuning slide receiver needs to be re-soldered in place**
This horn is apparently the same as the JP Rath 236 alto. I ordered one for $240 and it arrived with the tuning slide receiver wobbling. I think the solder popped in shipping. I filed a warranty claim and Thomann sent me a replacement and told me to keep the original for spare parts.
It plays well, good center, good sound, good intonation, and a solid 7th position. Slide is scratchy, but hasn’t been played much and probably needs to be broken in. I’m selling it for $100 and we can split the shipping. The unsoldered receiver would be an easy repair, so for less than $200 you can have a alto that’s better than the Jinbao copies I’ve played.
