With the holiday season upon us, it’s time for another round of Silver Bells. Whether you were naughty or nice, treat yo self!
1963 HN White King 3B Silver Sonic (#1 of 2)
.508 bore, solid sterling bell, fantastic shape. Clean inners, no dents or dings, scar on bell flare/evidence of dent removal (slide tenon collided with bell section inside the case), scratches & small spot of lacquer loss on bell stem (tried to capture cosmetic flaws in photos). All original parts, original lacquer, crisp engraving. Slide is 9/10, just about as good as a King slide can get, (in general, the round brass crooks make it slightly challenging to keep them in perfect alignment).
Comes with original King coffin-style faux gator case. Leather on handle is frayed and clasps are slightly warped (from the looks of it, someone tried to pry the locks open). Also comes with King 28 mouthpiece (end of shank just slightly out of round), marching lyre and cleaning rod.
The response is just what you’d expect from this make and vintage. Having had quite a few of these, I can say this one is about 5% in the direction of a “Bach-like” response, just a touch more focus than comps, with the same timbral payoff.
$2400 shipped to the Continental USA. Sorry, no international sales. PayPal or Venmo only. Will be packed with great care and shipped w/ insurance+tracking. Not interested in trades, trials or payment plans. Questions/offers, send a message.
Thanks for looking,
