I was quite pleased this morning to receive in the mail a new-to-me Greg Black 2GP bass trombone mouthpiece. This 2G-sized mouthpiece is a copy of a mouthpiece Greg made for Ray Premru. It was in perfect as-new condition and it found its way from Rochester to Canada’s west coast in one week. I am a bit of a mpc collector and I have a number of bass trombone mpcs ranging in size from a Bach 2G to a DE 114.
According to Greg’s website, here are the stats:
Cup Diameter: 26.8mm, 1.056"
Bore: 'K', .281"
Cup Depth: Deep
Rim Width: Extra Wide, Flatter Contour
OD: 1.641”
For comparison purposes, a standard Bach 2G has a .276” bore and a cup diameter of 26.75”.
What stands out is the fat, flat rim. Bach describes the 2G rim as ‘medium narrow’. I don’t place a lot of weight on whether a mouthpiece is ‘comfortable’ and, in the past, preferred narrower rims, but the rim on the 2GP is a real treat.

May I suggest you try a Symington 2, it's the best 2g size mp I have tried. Tremendous valve register and surprisingly loud pedals :P

I’d love to. I exchanged emails with Bill a couple of years ago (pre COVID- was it that long ago?) but even the silver plated brass Symington was too expensive - around $400 IIRC - for me. The 2GP was pre-owned and attractively priced.

I messaged him about a year ago, and he quoted me roughly 280.00 for his silver-plated mouthpieces. His zirconium was roughly 500.

I am sure Bill’s mpcs are excellent and worth every penny. $280 US = $360 CDN this morning (although the actual exchange is GBP -> CDN). Add shipping from the UK (approx $25 CDN) and some insurance, PayPal fees and you’re in the $400 CDN range. I apologize for not making that clearer.
