Early Texas (R12xxx) 88H in great condition, recently serviced. In fabulous condition - the only flaws are some lacquer loss at contact points and one small dent on the F tuning slide. Has the Elkhart engraving on the bell and zero wear on the inner slides. Plays like a good Elkhart IMO (and I've owned several).

More pics on request and can do a video call and play it for you if you're seriously interested.

Original case is long gone, but I can throw in a good yamaha intermediate case for $50 if you want.

$1400 plus shipping.

Not quite sure what you mean by "Elkhart engraving" since it clearly says "ABILENE TEXAS." :idk:

My 1972 88H (S/N R2199x) is engraved :

[color=#BF0000]CONN

MADE IN U.S.A.

Purchased in early 1972 from John Coffey, who said it was the last one he got from Elkhart before the shutdown. I took it off his hands!

List price then was $600. After my 40% "professional discount" I paid $360. I still treasure this trombone, still in pristine condition - best purchase I ever made. Early Abilene horns (like the OP's) were also mostly excellent, and need to be played!

I mean that the engraving pattern on the bell is the same as on Elkharts. As I understand it around this time some horns were built in Elkhart, some in Texas with parts brought from Elkhart, and some manufactured in completely in Texas - I'm sure Conn experts here can weigh in

You'll notice the engraving on this one reads "Abilene, Texas, USA" - different from yours (and this one has a lower serial number). Sounds like you got a great horn for an even better price though!

I'm also open to trades - I just don't need 3 .547 horns :-)
