For sale is my .547 large-bore Yamaha Xeno 881UG-II with a gold brass bell. The slide is a 10/10. In fact, the trombone is like new. Comes in nice and clean Xeno Brown formed case.

What does the UG-II mean? I tried to search up specifics on this exact horn online and didn’t find anything. I assume the G means gold brass bell, but I’m not sure what the U or the II mean. Another question, is the slide actually narrower than a normal large bore trombone slide? I read that it was designed to have a lighter more agile slide (similar to its smaller bore counter parts).

I'm not sure what the UG means, but I imagine the II means this is the second iteration of this model. The slide is narrower than a Bach 42 but far more comfortable to hold than a Conn 88H slide in my experience. It's a true large-bore slide.

I'm pretty sure G stands for a Gold Brass bell. No idea what U is.

This is the beginning of the Xeno series. This particular model is produced for sale in Japan. The YSL-820GUII is the same. They are the end of the Yamaha custom series and the beginning of the Xeno series. Very, very well playing horns. And if I had $1350 to spare, this would be en route. They don’t break up, and the in between custom shop horns and the start of the Xeno’s were some of the best ever produced, IMO.
