1955 Conn 4H, serial #523XXX. This horn has a .484 bore and 7” bell. I’ve had this horn since 2002 and bought it from John Upchurch (aka the original “Slide Doctor”). I used it in jazz band thru undergrad and grad school. Good playing horn. Great choice for lead playing, combo, etc. I’ve also used it for first part on The Creation a couple of times. Nice easy high register…but the pedals come out nicely, too. Selling because I’ve moved to a 3B Silversonic for just about all small bore playing…also trying to fund purchase of a nicer bass trombone than the Duo Gravis I currently have and will list soon.

Condition: the horn is de-lacquered, and has been since about 2008, but the bell retains a decent amount of shine (save for some water marks on the side that sits towards the slide in the case) since it has not been played too often since then. A tiny bit of “Conn wear” on the tip of the upper tube, pictured below. There are a couple of dings on the tuning slide, also pictured, and typical “mute kisses” of a horn this age. Nice Art Deco style 50’s Conn engraving. As you can imagine coming from Dr. Upchurch, the slide was excellent when I purchased it and still very good when properly lubed. .

Will ship well-packed in the pictured Pro-Tec small bore case (from 2003, bought on clearance because it was discontinued).

Asking $400 plus estimated shipping…I’ll cover packing charge at the UPS store.

Please PM with any questions!
