Possibly willing to trade my Kanstul MS169I bass trombone. Incredibly rare probably only one ever made. It was made for Mike Suter a great bass trombonist who played with the Stan Kenton orchestra. It’s independent and can be set up for either G or Gb second valve tuning. Rotors are in great shape and they have a quick throw. Slide is very good 9/10 action. This horn was based on the Holton169 and an attempt to make a modern version. It is nice and light and has great response throughout the register. I’m interested in Shires and Edwards independent bass trombones let me know what you’ve got.

It's a shame that it didn't work out for you. I've just picked up a Kanstul 1670 Roberts model. It just came my way in a trade. It's nice with the right pipe and for me that seems to be a Conn 70H pipe. When I blew Mike's horn I thought it played more like a big Conn 70H than a Holton. They are their own thing, not Holton, not Bach, not Conn but hints of all those Brands in a Kanstul sort of way. Mine is very well made indeed. Underrated horns. I hope this finds the home it deserves...it was one great players dream horn.

It’s an amazing horn, I just want something that blends better for orchestral playing. If I was a commercial player or played big band this would be the perfect Bass for me.

Exactly. Mike sounded amazing on it. The ultimate big band horn.

Agreed! I play a 1585 that I ended up picking up on a whim over a decade ago. It's a bummer that Kanstul ended up closing. They made such cool stuff. Even their small bore 1606 is a great horn.

Good luck with your trade!
