I'm selling a Yamaha 612 dependent bass. $2000/1800€ plus shipping or best offer.

Bought it in case I was going to move back to Canada and would need to play more modern trombone again, but that didn't happen, so it's just sleeping in its case now.

It's a solid player, with quite an easy blow and a nice versatile sound that would work well in orchestra, big band or commercial. Lots of core with just enough overtones. I'd say it's pretty middle-of-the-road, but not in a bad way — it's polyvalent without being boring, and it's fairly easy to color.

It's not gonna win any beauty contests, with lots of lacquer loss, and an old ID engraving. The slide is maybe a 7.5 or 8 with just a bit of plating loss on the stockings, but it works well.

I had the triggers split in Montreal (it had the original thumb roller when I got it). Still in the original tuning in F/Eb. Half-step extensions for the second valve are not available from Yamaha but should be easy to make. Instrument was cleaned a year ago and saw little used before being put in storage.

Can throw in the case, but it's pretty much useless and it'll probably be both safer and cheaper to ship without.

Still available, asking price reduced to $1800+shipping, but all offers still welcome. On the market until Jan 5th, then it goes into storage for the foreseeable future.
