A friend of mine acquired this horn. Can anyone offer some insight on this brand and particular model?

Weril is in Brazil. The GG series was their flagship line a few years back (I don't see it on their website now), reportedly designed with input from Gilberto Gagliardi (the ITF "under 18" solo competition is named in his honor).

Werils have never been common here in the US (at least under that name - there are reports of Weril stencils being sold under various names). Never played one myself. They're somehow associated with Nirschl now; I see some trombones under the Weril name and others under the "Weingrill and Nirschl" name.

I can’t find any data on these.

What’s the bore? Bell size?

There is one for sale here in Austria for ~500USD.

Is that a good deal?

I think I have never played that model.

My first bass was the old Weril Bach 50 copy. very playable with some smaller technical flaws.

And I still own the Weril alto. again very playable.

Hi, if it could be of interest to some owners, I am reporting the indication of some models - different from the one in the post but just contact them and tell them the models and serial numbers and you will have the useful information - that I had from contacts with Weril in Brazil to get information about my horn

With my personal recommendation:

Improving or replacing the rotors will improve its lifespan, airflow, and sound.

In my case, it improved a lot.

G291 - 294 brass bell

G292 - 295 red brass bell (85% cooper and 15% nickel)

G293 - 296 nickel silver bell (alpaca)

G291- 294 traditional sound and regular projection - number one choices

G292 - 295 darker sound and reduced projection - second choice

G293 - 296 brighter sound and improved projection - selected musicians.
