I’ve got a symington but am thinking the brass would be better in certain situations. Let me know if you’ll sell that MV

The brass Symington is a really good 1½G sized mouthpiece. It is a little clearer sound than the Zirconium, but still very nice. The Zirconium responds better - faster- especially on soft dynamics.
If you have a lot of very loud playing to do and you want to make sure you won't get covered by 6 honking tubas and 2 Euphoniums (looking at you brass band players), the brass version may help you a little.
I don't think I'll sell the MV. It was expensive and I'm sure I won't be able to replace it. Even if I don't use it as it has been replaced by a Symington ZR.

My school jazz band is playing some tower of power charts that i need to honk out some pedal Fs and Ebs, hoping the brass version can help me do that a bit easier

I don’t think a change of material is going to suddenly give you monster pedals…

Is that the mouthpiece or the player? :idk:
I do not have the problem on a shires 1.5
The Shires is a modern mouthpiece design and will play differently than any MV 1 and 1/2. The Symington pieces are great and, for me, the brass and ZR play completely differently from each other. I prefer the ZR version for some of the reasons SwissBone stated above. If you don't have any issues on the Shires 1.5 than why not use it to hammer away on the pedals???
When I switched to the 1 and 1/2G size years ago I went through everything I could get my hands on. I love my main MV. I have others and each of those play differently from each other. So use the Shires if it works.

The shires is uncomfortable for me to play, and i like my symington and would ideally just have another in brass. I’m not expecting a massive difference, but i would like to have the choice between my zirconium and a brass version.

I have the Mt Vernon and will never sell it. I had several of them and most of them was altered, or in other words destroyed. There is a lot of copying of the Mt Vernon's. I think most of them are good. Most of them are made with an added bonus; easier to play. I play the Mt Vernon because the sound I can make of it, nothing else. No mouthpieces makes me a good musician

That's fair - just expensive!

Faxx makes very good copies of original Mount Vernon mouthpieces rescued from Mount Vernon when Bach moved. They’re made in Germany. ( $ ) have 1 1/2G in stock for $40.00. They’re probably available at many places.
$ PM me for a vendor in case we’re not supposed to “advertise.” They’re good, cheap, and abundant.

I have an extra MV 1.5G I’d be willing to sell if you’re still looking.
