Hello,
I have an quite strange bell, a Conn 62H Elkhart cut bell modificated to fit my Thein setup. I‘m thinking to sell it, but have no idea what it could be worth. This bell play wonderful! dark sound with good projection and the fastest response I’ve ever met. The lacquer was stripped off and the cut was made before I got it.
Maybe somebody wants such a rare bell to build a custom horn from it, so what would you give me for this bell?

No, it‘s the original j-bend from the original 62H Elkhart. It had to be cut to fit the Thein valve section like a normal tuning slide does. The tricky thing about this bell is, if you use it for a Thein valve section, the tuning: you have to move the whole bell to get the right pitch. If you want you can replace it by a complete j-bend or cut it completely and make a TIB horn.

Where is the J bend cut? at the Ferrule? Is that a Thein inner tuning slide leg?
Cheers,

It‘s cut at the tuning side ferrule and has a leg that fits Thein valve sections which are not reversed
