For sale is a KG Custom bell section paired with a Bach Mount Vernon 36 Slide.
The bell section was assembled by Kevin Gillins at J. Landress Brass in NYC. The bell flare is an 8.5 inch solid nickel silver flare. One of only 2 hand spun by Josh Landress in years past that I selected when commissioning this bell section to play at Newport Folk Festival this past year.
The tuning slide is from a pre WWII Conn medium bore symphony trombone and has a unique solid brass brace with ring that makes for easy tuning adjustment on the fly. The F attachment crook is a vintage bass wrap and uses vintage Olds tuning in the slide parts to provide some bling. Rotor is an 2021 Olsen II rotor. Receiver was assembled to accept all Bach 36 slides.
Slide is an authentic, later year Mount Vernon Bach 36 slide, dated around 1961. Yellow brass outers with the usual oversleeves (not equal length like NY Bachs can be). The original leadpipe was replaced by a BrassArk MtV36 seamed yellow brass leadpipe. The slide has no dents and is very straight. It plays incredibly well and provides a warmer, more complex sound than other 36 slides I’ve owned. Inners are clean. Cosmetically, outers have lacquer wear typical of a slide around this age.
The instrument plays incredibly well. It has a big, bold, round sound. It projects incredibly well and is very resonant. The articulations can get very pointed when pushed so I paired the MtV 36 slide to keep things rounded out. Trigger register is glorious. Tuning is very stable throughout.
Asking for $3250 including shipping in an Eastman metallic blue hard case. I do not plan to part out the instrument as I find this horn plays best as a complete package. I am selling, because I am shifting to Yamaha trombones. Would be interested in a mint condition Yamaha 646 as a partial trade. Obviously this is a trombone forum, but if anyone has a Baritone Sax lying around I might be interested in that too. Contact me for any questions or more pictures thank you!

That YSL-646 request is pretty specific! As a former owner of one and a Yamaha player myself I'm curious to hear why that model, specifically, but not the YSL-446 ?
