Screw bell rings advice request

Experiences/ advice on screw bell rings?
Shires, Alexander, others? I suppose lighter rings would affect the sound character the least? And if one in the future should want more than one bell flare, do they sell extra male rings without having to buy the female (I believe this vocabulary is outdated but for lack of better words..)?
Are differences between ring sets big ore small?
The bell up for a cut is a Shires 7YLW. Any upsides to sticking with Shires given it’s the same brand?

My cut bass bell uses one from Instrument Innovations. It's works great, but I've heard the ones Shires uses are a little lighter. If you want to add less mass with the ring, Shires might be preferable. If your bell would benefit from a smidge extra weight, go with Instrument Innovations. :)

Do screw rings need to be continuous fine threads?
Or could it be something like an interrupted screw, or even one of those quarter turn joints?
There can't be any pressure there, so a seal should not be a problem, just a continuous surface with no risk of falling off.

French horns use either a screw or a quarter-turn joint. Apparently horn players seem to like both. I've always wondered if the trombone players would like the quarter turn "bayonet" joints as well.

I have a Schmid ring on my Shires bell, for what it’s worth, works great for me and the bell was already really light, made it feel more like a normal weight bell.

Josh Landress did both of my screw bells and I think they're Alexander rings. They've fit into French horns just fine, funnily enough.

No, but they are generally easier to machine and in low quantities, that seems to win. (That is, it is a more standard setup available on many lathes with minimal engineering and standard gauging).
I haven’t seen a trombone ring set in a 1/4 turn joint, that would be a great thought for the Butler 3D printed ones, I don’t know what they use.

The relativily new Courtois new York uses ja quarter Turn Ring.
I was apprentice there while it was in development.
I use in my own shop now rings from Bernd Sandner (famous Bell maker in Germany). They are specially designed for his flares but you can make them fit quite good on other bells with minimal lathe work. They are also really light.
