Hi,

I am trying to identify a Conn slide I have but the serial number is kind of cryptic (Serial Number : KB90) ,

I went on Conn Loyalist Website to check it but the only Serial Number in K date from 1967 and no second letter too

its a single Bore (562)

Does anyone have an idea ?

Thank you so much !!

:)

We don’t have much to go on yet…can you post a few pictures?

Are there any other markings on it? Older Conns would usually have the serial number along with the model number on the bottom cork barrel, and the serial number again on the very top of the outer slide tube, and sometimes also on the back of the water key lever. Sometimes there would also be a shorter cryptic marking that isn’t part of the model or serial number.

Thanks Tommy,

The slide is part of a Minick Custom Bass Trombone, here are some pictures:

That isn't a Conn factory made slide. The serial number would have been applied by the person who made it. So, who knows what the "code" of it means? We may never know.

As it's a Minick and 1990 would make sense, KB90 = owner's initials and year?

Could be. Unless anyone knows Minick' serial system any better, that may be the best guess.

Well that makes sense as I know from the previous owner this Horn has been assembled in 1990 for a retired Bass Trombone player in Pennsylvania...

but the previous owner did not remember the name of this player... if it is his initials (KB) maybe we got a clue.

Anyone knows somebody with initials KB who played basstrombone in Pennsylvania ?

Thank you so much for your replies anyway !
