Looking to trade my Shires rotor valve section for Bollinger tuning valve section.
Brand new valve section, just purchased the horn a month ago.
Or G tuned second valve that’s capable of being pulled out to “1/4 tone flat G”. Let me know what you got!
Cheers

Unfortunately I love mine and am not interested in trading, but if you don't find a set you could always just have a decent tech cut yours down a little.

Maybe, I think the tuning slide is a little too wide; it would need to be a little narrower to cut down and have any material lft for the tuning slide tubes but a tech could correct me on that.

Yup. Needs a crook with a smaller radius. Otherwise, easy job.

What if you cut down the tuning slide tubes? The actual Blair valves have just about the same width (visual estimation) but short ts legs. You would lose the little rings at the end of the female sides and maybe have to move that brace.

When I bought my Kanstul 1662i (which has a similar second valve setup), I asked if I could have the Gb cut to G, and the factory told me no, for the same reason stated above. It would need a narrower crook. I could have done it for additional cost, but the way the 1662i is designed, it would have messed with the open/no braces construction.
I was originally a big fan of the G tuning, but after playing it for a while and living with the realities, I've decided Gb works better for me. The Bb arpeggio in first position with Db in flat 1st (2nd valve) were compelling enough to convince me.

I checked out the difference in the second valve (a friend has his horn) and yes, the legs are shorter and the width of the TS is millimetres smaller, but just enough so that you can't just insert a shorter ts into your valve section, we tried. My best guess is the slide needs to be shortened and the female section of the valve also needs to be cut if I was to get it done on my instrument. But it's a matter of how much to cut, and I have no idea where to start!
Thanks for the feedback everyone
