36H brace missing

I noticed a while back that my 36H is missing a brace between the Bb attachment tubing and bell stem/tuning slide receiver.
Looks like it was removed by a previous owner as the solder marks are still there.
Anyone had this done or got a 36H with this modification? If so, what were your reasons? I have noticed the bell seems to vibrate more than other horns on a couple of notes (but not enough to be disturbing, no buzzing etc.).

You could do an experiment to determine if having a brace in that spot makes a difference. Simply insert a piece of chewing gum (already chewed) in the spot and play it! The gum should be soft enough that it will not create any tension in the horn.
You could also go to your local repair tech and they should have an assortment of used braces. One of them will probably fit in there without any tension or solder. If the brace improves the playability of the horn, have them solder it in.

Ah, good idea, I think I heard something similar involving a bit of cork.I’ll have to crack open a bottle of wine when I watch the rugby this afternoon so I can get some cork.
Like I said, it doesn’t really disturb me, actually I quite like a horn with a generous amount of player feedback. Trying with a bit of gum or cork doesn’t harm though, who knows, I might even prefer it.
