Hello. I have a nice 1958 Olds Opera straight large bore (.551" I believe) tenor in brass rather than the more common nickel silver. Lacquer wear, but no dents to speak of, slide is 8/10 with minimal plating wear. Nice core sound - very warm. I received this recently in a trade but think it's not for me.
Looking to trade for a 1940's Conn 4H or similar model Conn.
If interested in purchase, make me an offer.
Thanks.

Probably 0.554" bore, like the Olds O-25 with F-attachment and red brass bell that was introduced (I believe) in the 1960s. Nice trombones (I really like my Olds O-25), but somewhat hampered by the small Olds mouthpiece receiver which likes the rather small Olds 15 mouthpiece originally supplied with these trombones. The larger Olds 20 piece works better, as do more standard large-shank mouthpieces, even though they don't fit quite as well.

There were two Operas - Opera Premier (O-15) and Opera Fanfare (O-115) The Premier was "solid nickle Silver and the Fanfare had a yellow Brass Bell both were 0.554" bore with an 8.5" bell. So this is probably the Fanfare model. Based on the Olds Catalogues, it looks like this model was dropped in the early 1960s.

kbapti1,
It's just my Bach 5Gs. As you might know, the Olds lead pipes from this era do not fit modern large shank mouthpieces (other than Olds) really well. The Bach large shank 5Gs does not go all the way in, but fits reasonably well.

In addition to a 1940's 4H, I might be interested in a similar vintage 24H or 30H.
Thanks
