Hi All
I have a Mt Vernon 50 Bass trombone that I am considering getting rid of as I am in need to fund a tenor...
I have a colleague that is very interested but I have no idea of its value as there is not much to go off..
Its been recently restored by a renown instrument repairer and is in great condition other than a scaring from a creased bell... unfortunately it just doesn't do it for me...
As thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

A Bach Mt Vernon 50 should sell for quite a bit. You should be able to buy 2 tenor trombones easily. I'd contact Noah Gladstone at The Brassark. Don't let your colleague "steal" it from you. (I don't literally mean steal)

I second Bill's advice!
Noah is a good person to work with as well :good:

I'm certain that your post has created rivers of drool in Trombone Land. The above recommendations for consulting Noah is the best advice that you can get.
In the collector car world it would be much like "Gee, my great-aunt Izzy just cleared out her barn to find a 1960 Jaguar E-Type under a pile of boxes. I'll bet I can score it for a couple hundred $$, especially since I've told her that the ding in the hood is inoperable" or something.
Best of luck with this sale. Don't let anyone tell you that bell creases destroy the value of a drool-covered Mount Vernon 50.

Two scenarios at play here:
1. Someone will buy this instrument for A LOT OF MONEY and will play it as is.
2. Someone will buy this instrument for A LOT OF MONEY and will spend A LOT OF MONEY on a valve conversion.
Personal preference and we've all seen both played out. Good luck.
