I played an arrangement of "West Side Story" in high school somewhere between 1973 and 1975. It just came up in community band and I nailed all the tempo changes, key changes, triplets, odd rhythms, phrases, etc.
Why can I remember music I haven't seen in almost 50 years, but I can't remember where I put my phone or to take my vitamins???

You played that music on an almost daily basis for several weeks; you put your phone wherever you put it only once. Not sure about the vitamins; do you have a set routine for when you take 'em.

Right?! I played an arrangement in High school marching band about 20 years ago…and still remember it after glancing at the music…but what I ate for lunch yesterday…
Aren’t the vitamins suppose to help with memory or something?

Rhetorical answer to rhetorical question...
You like "West Side Story" more than you like your vitamins.
