Hi All.

I’ve made some grips here in the Uk which are selling quite well.

They are similar in design to the get a grip, and the Australian version, main motivation for creating them was lack of supply in Europe, and I wanted one for myself. Sheridan being unwilling to supply outside the USA unless you buy 50 and the other one (name I can’t remember) only being available in Oz.

My grips are high quality leather, hand stitched. (Similar to a posh watch strap, not done on a machine). Colours available on request depending what we have.

I make them for Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium, baritone and have recently made one for a Flugal player here in the UK who suffers with arthritis.

I am making them to last, with the best quality leather I can lay my hands on. Shaun Crowther at Grimethorpe band has been using the tuba version since last June 2021 and there is no hint of failure if the leather or stitching. . . . An issue tht other grips have suffered from.

Prices include postage (I will post anywhere).

If you play 2 or more trombones you only need one grip. .

Saturday I was doing some Alto with Southern Sinfonia at Wells Cathedral. I used the grip for the first time on the Alto in performance and just found it have so much stability. Mozart Mass in C minor, Mend Psalm 95 and some creation. Ox Blood Red. <EMOJI seq="1f44c-1f3fb" tseq="1f44c-1f3fb">πŸ‘ŒπŸ»</EMOJI><EMOJI seq="1f44c-1f3fb" tseq="1f44c-1f3fb">πŸ‘ŒπŸ»</EMOJI>

Sunday I was with the London Gala Orchestra for a Proms in the park gig and used it on my 88H. (blue)

Today I was practising Bass. My Edwards which next Saturday il be using for a Queen Symphonic gig with the Heart of England Orchestra. (black and orange)

Obviously I’m spoilt having quite a few of these knocking around, but you can adjust one grip to do all of this without much effort at all. We send instructions and a video with every grip to help you.

I bought one a few weeks ago - nice product, well made, and quick shipping. Very comfortable to hold the horn with this grip. Recommended!

They look neat!

Couple questions about the adjustable aspect of them...

[quote="conn88Hagmann"]The grips work on multiple instruments and our specially cut steel allows easy manipulation for different instruments.

How likely is that steel to fatigue and eventually fail on repeated adjustments back and forth (eg between a narrow slide tenor and wide slide bass)?

You mention it working on multiple trombones; are the tuba and euphonium grips also interchangeable?

Very nice concept. To me it looks like a sort of "replacement" for the bell brace grip that used to be so common, back when trombones with F drops were made so the left hand supported the horn by the bell brace AND operated the valve lever.

Why this practice stopped I'll never ever figure out. It DID open the door for a whole new industry though - trombone grip aids!

Hi!

So we have never had one fail yet. As long as your not flattening, or bending the grip completely back on it’s self then the fatigue will be minimal for normal use between small and large bore / large bore and bass. The grip should last years.

If you have to do vey quick changes (say during a show) then I’d say yes probably better to have one for each instrument, but just for convenience really.

Yes the euph / tuba ones can also be adjusted.

Hope that helps. :-)

Hope that’s helps.

I just got mine. Love it. It was easy to position for my hand. It’s comfortable. I like it because other trombone supports I felt would put too much pressure on one particular part of my hand and actually make holding the trombone worse. With this grip, it seems to evenly distribute the weight. I’m very happy with my purchase.

The grip allows you to support the weight of the instrument without having to grip with your fingers. AND, it helps create a consistent position on your lips.

And. . . . On some instruments because of the position of the grip it enhances the sound, giving it more focus. A complete but welcome side effect. .

I purchased one of these grips for my Bach 42BG. It is well-built and fits great. Most importantly, it makes long days playing the trombone more comfortable. I highly recommend them.

Bizarre. Apparently the trombone gods are unhappy with me. However, I did receive your email and have responded to it. If you don't get the response, let me know. Thanks.

Awesome feedback for the Contra from UK Bass Trom Guvnr Dave Stewart.

<ATTACHMENT filename="IMG_6619.jpeg" index="0">[attachment=0]IMG_6619.jpeg</ATTACHMENT>

This is fitted to an Alexander. . . We used the heavy weight grip with a similar fitting to an Edwards bass. So universal really.
