Edit: Valve Section is sold, new listing for slide and bell.

This is a pre-Eastman Custom Shires recently overhauled by James Baker at CustomBrass with the serial number of 15XXR, signifying its construction before of the turn of the century. The slide is a .547 inch TW47 slide with a nickel crook. The slide action is near perfect (9.5/10). The valve has a great blow both open and closed and the action is like new. The bell section is a T II Vintage New York yellow brass bell with a B tuning slide. There is general minor wear throughout the horn, but no issues with any action. Asking $3,000 (buyer pays shipping), but willing to negotiate.

I absolutely love the early 2000s Shires linkages with the metal paddle.

Taking a look at your photos...

That is indeed an early Shires rotary valve, probably one of the ones that was identical to the Greenhoe valves of the time on the inside. I think it would date from the late 90s or very early 2000s. Great design.

It is also a tuning slide from no later than about 2006 when the tooling was changed and the B was no longer stamped on the standard slide.

The slide is actually a TW47LW (lightweight). It was not uncommon in the early days for the stamp to be incomplete.

The bell is newer than the rest of the components. The TII mandrel options was not in use until about 2008 at the earliest, and I think the VNY model came a little later than that.

Nice horn! Very good price. Somebody should be very happy with this.

Matt,

Thanks for checking out the horn! I have a question, what is the best way to get one more approved post if I have no other horns to sell right now? I apologize for any ignorance I may have, this is my first rodeo into this sort of site. Thanks again!
