I saw Gabe Rice on CBS evening News tonight. Totally stunned. "Hey, I know who that guy is". He was talking about his recent bout with covid. A big bass trombone in the background of the shot. Big as life right there on national television. Gabe, you're famous!

That was funny. I posted on facebook last week about how hard it was to actually get my hands on Paxlovid. I was contacted yesterday by a CBS News producer who saw my post, and then they went with a different interview.
Today - my first day out of quarantine - I was contacted by a different producer because they were preparing a story to go along with the White House press conference about efforts to make it more available. They basically wanted me on camera saying that it helped. We also talked in the interview about the difficulty getting it, but they didn't use any of that.
It all happened while I was in my BU office practicing before teaching a lesson. The big horn in the background is BU's Markus Leuchter contra.

They might want to wait until I can speak two sentences without coughing.

Covid made most of our lives more difficult, but for one bass trombonist, it made him famous.
Gabe, can you sign my bell?

He's still not as famous as forum member Tom - of course coaching at Michigan State had something to do with that.
