Conn 88HNV question

If anyone has access to a Conn 88HNV, would you measure the gap from the bell to the slide and post it? I tried one out few weeks ago and the gap was exceptionally small – less than the width of my index finger – and I'd like to know if it is typical of the model or an aberration. I like the horn, but I occasionally curl my finger over the slide, and I'm too old to change!

The one I tried was pretty tight. I would say about my finger width. I remember thinking that it would take some getting used to. I did like the though. But went another way.
