Just got my 42BO back from the repair shop. I had the Instrument Innovation`s "Olsen" Valve installed.
This was the Best 42 I`ve ever played and now with this new valve It`s even better.
The trigger range is bigger and fatter. It sounds and feels like the open horn.
I highly recommend it. They are a fantastic company to work with . Amazing customer service. Mike really wants to make sure you are happy with his products. I also use his Axe handle , which makes the horn easier to hold .
So now it sounds and plays better and it`s easier to hold.
Just my 2 cents

What's the throw like? I thought about getting those valves put on my bass.

In a nutshell: They have ball bearings and a unique method of venting that makes their action very quick, similar to their Thayers (branded "Infinity" Thayers by Bach).

The throw is a little shorter but it`s so worth it
