Here is a Selmer Paris large-bore trombone for sale. "Largo" model, good slide, original case is nice, and the valve lever is the most beautiful I have seen. Leave it to the French! Bell is 9".

nb: The receiver wants a slightly small mouthpiece shank. Between standard small and large.

That valve lever is comfortable too! I used to have two Largos - one straight with a beaded 8.5" bell, and one with F with an unbeaded 9" bell. Does this one have the 9"?

Thanks for the reminder! Bell is 9".

This lever is my all-time favorite for thumb-over-brace set-ups!

Would this work for a high schooler? I'm trying to help a friend find something for her son who is going into 9th grade. She's looking for something with an f-attachment. Needs to be functional for a high school student. Doesn't need to be something on a trajectory to studying music in college.

In general, yes, this is a good all-around horn. But... the slide is very wide - as wide or even wider than a 42B slide. So, I am not sure if it would be comfortable for a younger player to hold.

Perhaps someone here who teaches HS kids could chime in...

Agree, it's a handful for most students just entering high school. When I was in h.s., my band director presented me with a brand-new Largo to use in school since I had made 1st chair trombone. I appreciated the gesture, but did not enjoy playing it, and ended up lugging my Connstellation back and forth most days. It was probably a very good horn, but just too big for me to hold and fill up properly at the time, especially on 1st parts.
