I recently came into a no-name 12C small shank mouthpiece (from my sister). Should be circa 1983. Externally looks just like a Bach. But I started to do some measurements - most notably the bore is oversized compared to a normal 12C. About .238" Definitely hasn't be modified. I think this might be my new favorite. Anyone have any idea who made this? It's old enough that it seems unlikely to be some Chinese clone. Only thing stamped on it is 12C

A picture may help identify it but there have been a LOT of variants of 12C over the last 100 years!

Looks pretty standard. Probably came with a trombone. Those are often not branded.

Many manufacturers (American, German, Czech, Chinese, ...) have been making copies of the Bach 12C for decades (at least 60 years, I'd guess). All that's needed (beyond a little skill) is a pattern, a brass rod, a lathe, and silver plating capability. In other words, within the competence of thousands of machinists.
