Need a new mouthpiece !!!

Hey, fellow trombone players!!!
I'm currently playing on a king 3b with my community college. At the moment I play classical and jazz, however, I can't seem to find the right mouthpiece to play all around. I have a Rath S5 MD but although it sounds dark it gives me trouble reaching high notes above F. My other mouthpiece is the standard 6 1/2al and it just does not fit me cause it's just bright and makes me hold back in playing with orchestral ensembles.

The S5MD is quite deep, maybe try a standard S5 or S5BB. I play a lightweight L5BB on my R4F and love it. It's much less work than the standard weight one IMO.

I'll start the new Forum by beating a dead horse.......Doug Elliot mouthpieces allows you to fit the best rim size for you to almost any conceivable cup depth and backbore dimension you could possibly want. I have a different setup for every horn I use, from my King 2b to a 4b symphony horn, to a newly acquired Euphonium.

You can talk to Doug or take a Skype conference. He generally doesn't try to sell you his mouthpieces, although they aren't a bad choice.
You might want to try a Bach 5GS, which is a 5 rim on a 6.5 AL backbore.
Or a 5G, or a Wick 5B (something -- L for large shank, S for small shank)
Schilke or Yamaha 51 series.

There is probably a Laskey size as well, but I don't know it.
I would suggest borrowing as many of these as you can to test before you engage in plunking down hard-earned money. If you bought all the mouthpieces I suggested, you could have owned TWO Doug Elliott setups.
