Fantastic corporation-era Bach 36B with yellow brass bell and yellow brass standard-weight slide. Serial number 33XXX dates it to 1977-1978.
This horn just sings. The bread and butter range on this has been just amazingly clear and wonderful for me using an Elliott LT102.E.E4*, and with a G cup it’s colorful and dark and a perfect legit sound. It’s one of those horns I’m sure I’m going to regret passing on. It’s simply surplus to me, and it really deserves to be regularly played.
The slide tenon and receiver have been swapped to allow use of large bore Bach/Edwards slides or bells, but the original parts will be included in case buyer wants to change it back. The valve linkage was updated to the modern minibal style linkage, but the original linkage and lever will also be included.
Cosmetically, the lacquer is about 95% or better and looks great. There is some light lacquer wear at the contact points, as well as a few surface scratches on the bell, and some light scuffs in the lacquer on the lower slide tube.
The slide was serviced a few months ago, and is as good and quick as I could ask for. If I were forced to rate it, I’d probably call it a conservative 9+/10.
For trade, I’m looking for a valve section for an Edwards tenor, edge braced and preferably a rotor.
Pricewise, I’m looking for around $1600, which will include a brand new case.
I can try to get some photos taken this evening, if anyone is interested.
