Kuhnl & Hoyer 175 Slokar Eb/Bb - Alto Trombone, with case $3500 or best offer
One of the very best sounding, playing and manufactured alto trombones on the market. Easy to play quietly in those Mozart Requiem tender moments with vocal soloists, but totally capable to belt out those crazy high notes in Beethoven 5 and to cut through a full orchestra at its loudest. I’ve never had the Rhenish high Eb play so effortlessly than when I played it on this horn.
And the workmanship! I don’t know what the Germans do differently than everyone else to make these instruments so bullet proof, but man, it is flawless manufacturing. The Bb valve at 10/10 is simply impeccable. You rarely need to oil the rotor because it is machined so precisely. And it’s quick. The slide is a 10/10 with zero wear on the contact points (I’m not lying check the pics!) even after several years of use.
Seriously, I take care of my instruments, but even I was surprised that I couldn't find any scratches or wear on this instrument. It still looks and plays like it’s new. If I hadn’t transitioned to bass trombone over the last few years I would never let it go. But, it’s been patiently sitting in its case for the last couple years, dying to be played and it feels like a waste to leave it in the corner.
Comes with a well-built K&H hard case, a JoRal Harmon Mute, a Dennis Wick Straight Mute, a Kühnl Silver ALTO 5.8 mouthpiece and I can throw in one more mouthpiece of your choice: the Yamaha 45C2-12C Silver small shank, Vincent Bach silver 15EW small shank or the Griego silver CS7 small shank. I personally used the Yamaha and the Griego most of the time. Asking for $3500 or best offer.
