Have your ever seen a gold-brass Bach corporation 42G tuning slide?
Is a goldbrass tuning slide usually fixed in the Bach corp 42G bells? Or is a yellow brass tuning slide normally fixed in?
Thanks for your time.

VERY rare option also with Gold Brass attachment tubing. Almost all are just yellow brass.
Aged lacquer may look like gold brass, but probably isn't. Some do exist, so never say never.
Cheers,
Andy

One can now order a gold brass tuning crook for retrofit on 42 tuning slides. Since the introduction of the Artisan trombone line, TS47G tuning slide uses the same taper as a 42 crook, so I bought a couple bare crooks for customers horns.
I agree with Andy, gold brass tubing etc...was a very rare option. I have seen precisely ONE gold brass valve tubed, neckpipe and tuning slide Bach 42 in person over 20 years in repair, and one 42BO that had gold brass iF attachment inner slide tubes only.
Like Andy said, if its before 1980 its likely gold lacquer.

Brade Close makes tuning slides for Bachs in various alloys: http://brassmedic.com/
Noah Gladstone also carries different alloy tuning slides for Bachs from Matthias Hoelle and another maker: http://www.brassark.com/tuning_slides.html
Bachs have a stock yellow T slide. I believe that at one time—early 2000’s?—they offered the option of a gold tuning slide. Makes me wonder whether they have any old stock lying around, or whether they were recycled into bells…
