Looking to sell a 5H Victor (post-Elkhart) bell section. Identical in spec to the 6H bell. 5H had a lightweight slide…that’s the only difference.

Zero dents. Lacquer easily 85%+

Pics upon request.

To clarify, this is just the complete bell section. No slide.

$425 shipped USA only.

Thanks!

I think the hmmm was more towards post elkhart 5hs don’t bring that much money and $425 for a bell may be a little high.

Outloud consideration of purchasing something i know i don't need.

If i had the money I'd probably hop on this.

I was wondering if you sold the complete horn or not.

I had a guy wanting to buy the horn, but the communication became testy. I backed out of the deal.

I had the sleeves cut back on the slide that’s with my ‘58. This 5H slide will make a great spare. I need the $$. Otherwise I’d keep the whole horn!

It’s bad form to devalue a seller’s for sale items.

It’s bad form to devalue a seller’s for sale items. But since you have done so, I’ll point out that there’s nothing inherently low quality about post-Elkhart Conns. And the 5H is highly regarded.

Everyone has heard that Abilene era horns are inconsistent. I get it. But to imply a seller’s asking price is too high isn’t cool. I never would do it.

If you’re not interested in the horn that’s cool too, just don’t torpedo a guy’s marketing.

Whoa, that was not my intent in any way shape or form. I was merely answering another members comment. It wasn’t incorrect in my statement and was actually repeating another members (who is thought of very highly) words to me on 5Hs. I personally have two myself, one Elkhart and one Abilene. I find them to be great horns, and all I was getting at was I’ve bought complete 5hs for the ads asking price and that it may be a little high for the bell section alone. I hope the bell section finds a good home and was just offering some wisdom from personal experience. We’re all on the same team here and trying to help each other grow and improve as players and people. I apologize for coming off rude or crude, but I’ve had worse said by better people/players and its only helped me grow

No problem. I accept your intent.

It’s just that it is so common now for people to comment negatively on a seller’s asking price. It’s not kosher.

Thanks

It's really very simple. If you see somebody asking what you think is too high a price, you can do one of two things: ignore the offer, or make a counter offer of what you think it's worth to you.

The seller can either accept your offer or tell you to take a hike.

If the asking price is way too high, the seller will get no interest. The seller can then change the asking price or wait until somebody is willing to pay his price.

Taking someone to task over an asking price is not productive.
