In between an 11C/12C

Looking for suggestions for something between an 11C and a 12C….<EMOJI seq="1f601" tseq="1f601">😁</EMOJI>

Another (Bach I assume?) 11C or 12C, from a different vintage, day of the week, individual worker, direction the wind was blowing in etc.
Personally I found a lot of variety in the numerous Bach 11C I tried, though overall they mostly have quite a different feel on the lips to the 12C. Although on paper the specs might be quite similar, they could almost feel like different designs (rim profile, cup shape). I can't really think of a mouthpiece I've tried which sits between them, other than some 11C which felt a bit smaller and brighter than others and some 12C a bit fuller and more comfortable than others.
Alternatively, maybe talk to Doug Elliott about which of his setups would sit between 11C and 12C if you don't fancy the long search for your perfect 11C/12C or something from another non-custom manufacturer.

What do you mean by “in between”? Just the rim or…? I’ve heard it reported that the 11C and 12C play quite differently, more than you would expect on paper. Perhaps you want the feel of one and the playing characteristics of another? It might be a difficult needle to thread but more specifics about what you’re looking for would help narrow it down

Most 12C's measure about .960 inch
Most 11C' measure about .975 inch
In my stuff you could try ST and/or MT series, 97, C, C2 or C3 depending on what horn you play.
Or maybe that's all totally wrong and you're just chasing your tail.

If I recall, there are more differences than just the rim diameter between the 12C and 11C.

Sam Burtis used to talk about there being two "classes" of mouthpieces. The 12C and 7C were one class and the 11C and 6.5AL were the other. I don't remember exactly how he described the differences, though.

Stork has a T2 and T3. Anything in Schilke 47 to 45 is in the ball park. Marcinkiewicz has a whole slough of generic and signature mouthpieces in that range. Quinn has a a Faxx 7C worth the money. Mouthpiece charts can be misleading. You may want to talk to a manufacturer first. Doug Elliott is a good source, too.

My guess is that the 12C plays too tight, and the 11C is just the opposite ?? That would have more to do with the cup shape than the rim diameter.
The Bach 7(no C) is a popular small bore trombone mouthpiece because it has a deep cup and produces a richer sound than the "C" pieces. The rim size of 0.970 fits between the 12C and the 11C.
Other similar deep mouthpieces are (old) King M-21's. Rims are either 0.960", or 0.970', and they both have deep cups similar to the Bach 7. Used examples of both are usually easy to find.
