Good afternoon. If you are looking for a great playing but no frills large bore for a good price, I think I have a candidate for you.
This is a classic Bach 42BO, serial number 13xxxx, which I believe puts it mid 90's vintage. It just came out of the shop where I had the following done:
* The little bit of remaining, ugly lacquer was stripped
* Ultrasonically cleaned
* Rotor bumpers, water key cork replaced
I also cleaned the slide myself. Mechanically the horn is in great shape. Rotor and tuning slides work well, I'd rate the handslide about 8.5 out of 10, gig ready. Cosmetically I think it looks great with the lacquer removed, has dings and dimples throughout the bell section, but no major dents. No plating wear on the inners and impressively for a Bach of this vintage, I can't find any red rot. Most importantly, it's a good player. Has the classic Bach characteristics of being incredibly consistent throughout the dynamic range and having a big sound with lots of core. Comes with what I assume is the original brown Bach zippered case, zippers still work well and case is in overall very good condition.
