Hi all,

I have to pay for lot's of things so I'm forced to part with horns and project stuff.

1958 Conn 8H- nice half-moon engraved bell. I don't know how many owners it has had but it's pretty great for its age. The tuning crook has had work done. The bell has had work done but looks like it wasn't anything overly major. Upper slide tube has been replaced at some point along with the leadpipe. The horn is a spectacular solo horn. I got it just before the pandemic an was able to use it for some rehearsals and a concert. I would like to keep it but I have an 8H and 78H i use more than this wonderful horn. It comes with a Conn case.

EDIT: So looking at the bell, there's laquer wear on the neck pipe. There are marks on the bell that are from whoever repaired it. Those look like marks from burnishing. There is a spot that looks like it was a crease but i don't think it is because it doesn't show on the inner part of the bell (at least i can see). You can see from the pictures of the slide that the inner tubes are different lengths. Seeing that there is no plating wear i can only assume the upper tube had something major happen to it. I am including the marching men counterweight and the original case.

$1050 shipped.

Bach 36BG bell section and tuning slide- I got the bell section and tuning slide from forum members. I bought this as a project I'll probably never get to. The trigger doesn't have linkage or paddle and the tuning crook has a ding in it. Bell section overall is in great shape.

EDIT: So looking at it again, there are marks on the tuning crook. They look and feel superficial. There are some tiny dings on the bell itself. There is a small dent (pictured) on a bend in the F wrap. I was going to open the wrap anyway so doing that would've fixed that dent. I can include a newer Conn case for an additional $75.

$650 shipped

I'm just looking to make my money back, but feel free to throw me offers.

I'll have pictures for those interested.

International buyers will pay actual shipping costs.

Paypal f&f preferred. If paying by via pay goods and services please add 3% to cover fees.

Any questions please ask.

Thanks

I also have a 72H slide for sale.

I have a 58 8h, which I recently bought from Doug Bert. I'd have held off if I knew you were going to sell yours. For other folks looking, these are magical horns. I use mine for lead in a small orchestra, and every chance I get for solo stuff at church or quintet/quartet. Combined with a sl2525 slide, it's even better, I think. If they made horns this good new, there'd be a stampede. They're so malleable, and can take a good bit of volume. Such great horns and this looks like a good deal.

Or at least healthy sales. Unfortunately, most of Conn-Selmer's "innovation" (or at least new product development) seems to be on the Bach side of the organization. Conn is apparently the neglected little brother.

Believe me I don't want to let it go. Personal issues have forced my hand. This horn gets little use and my other '50s horns will get more use. Plus I accidentally won a 90G that will need to be paid for.

Also, sorry i didn't get back to you about trades for your current batch of horn sales.[quote="Posaunus"]<QUOTE author="hyperbolica" post_id="184438" time="1658831523" user_id="104">

This was exactly what i was expecting when Selmer bought UMI. Selmer essentially kneecapped the competition. Do we really need 10+ models of 42s and the token "new" King 2B or 88H with a fancy wrap?

Oh, so you're the one who wound up with that. I was going to bid, but I just didn't do it. I'd love to check that horn out some time if you get tired of it.

Yup. That's me. a bit of fortunate foolishness on my part. I didn't expect to get it. Now I'm digging myself out of a hole.
