Up for sale is an absolutely AWESOME mouthpiece. This is a 4CL that has had the cup widened to accept Doug Elliott XT rims. This one comes with a DE XT106N rim, the one Bob Reeves used to match the cup to. It has been replated in silver, and this has stayed bright and perfect for the last three years of daily use.
I have played this as my daily mouthpiece for three years, ever since I met with the Bob Reeves team at JoyBrass Tokyo. It has been with me in brass quintets, two concertos with bands, and tons of section playing.
I am asking for $200, including the DE rim and shipping to the US. I'm open to selling it without the rim, please PM me. Add $40 for shipping to outside the US.
This is the best mouthpiece I had ever used until I used it as the basis for the piece I recently had made through Vennture. I am only selling it because the design I made with them has a new blank and rim profile that I prefer. I also need to raise some funds for some mutes
Why do you want this crazy thing? Well, it is first and foremost all about the backbore and throat on this -- the .307 in bore means that you have access to the extreme loud dynamic without getting too "brassy", and, interestingly, easier pianissimo playing. The cup is relatively medium-shallow, so it is just perfect for mid to upper register playing. Add in the 106N rim, and the register below the staff is right there for you. You can throw all the air you want to get the lower register to open up.
Christian Lindberg knows his stuff, and, for whatever reason preferred a rim profile that must of us don't like. Now you can have everything that is good about his mouthpiece, with the rim that you like.
PM if interested!
