Hello everyone. I’m selling this small shank Monette DB 81. “DB” are the initials of the trombonist (not me) for whom it was originally designed and 81 is the backbore number. It is the same rim as their TT4 (comparable to a Bach 4G). It’s currently an unlisted model but they said in their response to my email asking for details that they may begin selling it in the future as the ‘TS4 S1’ as the DB model has proved popular over the years.
The cup looks to be of medium depth with the prana ‘S’ shape that starts round then slopes into the throat. Great projection, tons of presence. I used this mouthpiece for everything for more than 10 years before I came to realize that the rim was too big for my face and the back bore too open for my peashooter trombone and the style I play.
There is cosmetic wear and tear which doesn’t effect the playability; normal plating loss on the shank from the mouthpiece receiver, some small chips and discoloration on the sides of the rim (not where lips make contact) and a couple scratches on the main body. It’s seen a ton of action but it plays as good as ever. Note that the brass at the end of the shank is VERY thin and requires a lot of care to keep straight.
Asking for €100 which includes shipping within the EU. If in the US we can talk about shipping options but obviously that will raise the cost.
I’m also open to trades of small shank 6 1/2 or 5G- ish sized pieces of similar value. Would actually love to try a used TS -6 if someone has one looking to be sold.
Feel free to contact me here or by email if interested.
