Hey guys,

I am after a bit of a unicorn, but I am in the market for a King 2125 with Trigger, I believe this is just another name for the 3b+ with trigger?

Happy to chat with any options or leads where I can find one,

Cheers,

You might also consider widening your search to include a King 607 or a benge 175 - same nstrument basically.

heres one (very expensive) 607

3B+ 's are out there but the search may be a bit longer than you think. Have you tried DJ yet? He's well worth a go.

Should have added Doug Bert's Brass Exchange is helping him out at the moment so maybe go to them first? Not sure how DJ is doing... Doug

Have just jumped on and had a look,

They have 3b+ with F listed at the moment so will quiz them on that,

Thanks for the advice on the other horns as well!

The 607F has gotten a lot of attention recently. Burgerbob recommended one to me and a few others... definitely worth checking out. Very good playing instrument. Definitely more common specs on paper; yellow brass outers and unsoldered bell bead on an 8" bell. I'm modding mine but... I do that to everything

Yup, I have a super beat up one that I love. The only change I'm going to make (and I'm not sure I should...) is putting in a Shires M2 leadpipe.

I have a 3BF for $850, sold as is. Doesn't look great but it functions and plays well. FWIW

I've had both over the years. THe 3B+ with and without the F attach and the Benge 175, I prefer them as the straight horns. The F sides do seem to blow freely on both. THe Benge seems to blow a bit darker while the 3B+ is

bright and clear. I tried some Brass Lab pipes and some others on the 3B+. I preferred the original King pipes . On The Benge I use a Shires M3 and a Shortened Edwards #2 SS pipe.I had Eric Edwards make me a DB slide(508/525) from a 607 slide. YB lower outer and a YB Crook with new upper 3B tubes ( Nickel outer). He did a great job. The combo of the nickel upper with the original 607 parts brightens the sound nicely. Using a Shires T8- 2 and an Edwards

Shortened #3 SS leadpipes. I let the 3B+'s go over the years . The Benge is a keeper as it has a slightly more open ,broader, resonant sound. I felt the3B+'s were a bit compact for me..FWIW. Just My Opinion based on my needs and concept of sound. Both are fine horns. Never played a 607

The Brass Exchange has one listed right now:

For what it's worth I have a 3B+w/F and gold brass bell from the early 1980s and love it. I wouldn't part with it though!

Good luck.

Maybe a 608F is also worth a look? On paper, it could even be a bit closer to a (1st gen?) 3BF+ than a 607F would thanks to the rose brass bell if that‘s what you’re after. I‘ve seen them listed new for around £1600/1800€ in Europe.

As a recent 3B+ convert (not with F, though maybe I‘ll get one fitted which goes against the reason I bought it but anyway…) I wish you luck in your search.

I had Brad Close put on a Bi-thread adapter (for large bores) on a 3B, since you can easily get the leadpipe ring parts for the large bores but not small bores. I'm having Brian Hinkley here put one of these on the 606/607 slide I'm having made:

<LINK_TEXT text="https://instrumentinnovations.com/solde ... -605-bore/">https://instrumentinnovations.com/solder-on-bi-thread-conversion-nut-605-bore/</LINK_TEXT>

I'm not sure which is going to be the better solution, but I'll post pictures when I have them done. I have a 2B+ pipe which I'm having him put a mouthpiece receiver on and I'll later add a leadpipe ring if that's the leadpipe I end up going with.

With yours being a medium bore, the bi-thread adapter might be nice because you could get threaded pipes from Conn, Edwards, and Shires (and others I think?). And since the 607F part is so easily available, seems like you wouldn't have much trouble replacing it if it got destroyed in the process. But on the other hand, the 607 pipe seems to be a pretty good player...

Likewise, I love my Benge 175f and not likely to sell (at least not for a fair market price)

The one at brass exchange does look like a good deal, the last 3BF+ I saw for sale in Germany, which was in excellent condition btw., was up for about 2250€.

Might want to check with Greenbean (Tom Rice) on here. He seems to have a knack for finding great horns. I got my 2125F from him about 3.5 years ago and LOVE it.
